x= mute note
*= harmonic
h= hammer on
Note: since Linkin Park play a lot of harmonics in their songs, I suggest that every
time a harmonic is played, you strum/pick that string close to the bridge/tailpiece
to produce a cleaner harmonic sound. Also when playing harmonics, plug the guitar into
an effects pedal so you can actually hear the harmonics well - especially on harmonics
9* and 3* - like a sustain pedal and a pretty heavy distortion pedal (depending on which
part of the song and what it sounds like). Effects usually heighten the sound of harmonics.
Have fun
By the way, for those who don't know and are using chromatic tuners to play these
songs, Db, Ab, Db, Gb, Bb, Eb tuning is exactly the same as C#, G#, C#, F#, A#, D#.

With You
Note: Brad uses a 7-string Ibanez to play this song
Standard Tuning: low to high: B, E, A, D, G, b, e,
To play on 6-string guitar, tune to standard 7 string and play the same as 7-string
except ignore the highest e string, which isn't even used in this song. I suggest
if u do so, buy thick, heavy gauge strings or bass strings for the heavy string,
and switch the other strings one space over (subtract the highest string (e) off)
so that the lowest string (B) is that thick string, that will make it sound better).

to guitar 2. It's pretty much the same as the verse except with distortion

the two parts, but it's pretty easy to figure out by ear. Also, this isn't
played in the Bridge, only Guitar 1 is.

METEORA
Foreword
Tuning: low to high: [dropped-B] B, F#, B, E, G#, C#
Note: Normally, in a song with such low tuning, Brad would use a 7-string Ibanez
but in this case, as said in the interview with him in Guitar World Magazine, he
uses an Ibanez 6-string RG model that has an extended scale, which allows for
thicker strings and lower tuning without making it sound like crap. A regular
6-string won't give you as good a sound as an extended scale or 7-string with
such a low tuning. Enough said.

Somewhere I Belong
Tuning: low to high: A#, D#, G#, C#, F#, A#
MUST READ IF YOU WANT TO PLAY IT CORRECTLY: Ok, if you want to play it exactly
like LP then keep reading, but its so annoying and confusing, because LP have
so many alternate tunings and guitar layering and stuff it makes it hard to
understand and I think this song is the most complicated to figure out. If you
don't care if it's perfect or not, stop reading and scroll to the bottom where
I have tabs for this song in the more preferred dropped-db tuning, which is
similar and it practically sounds the same, just not as heavy. This will settle
all the controversy over how to play this song and what tuning they use.
In Guitar World Magazine, Brad explains about his tuning for this song:
"DELSON: ... instead of playing a 7-string, I'm using an Ibanez Prestige
that's in standard 440, but I'm leaving the high E string off and starting
with a low B instead. So it's B, E, A, D, G, B. And the first single,
"Somewhere I Belong" uses that tuning, down a half step."
In other words, for all you beginners out there, is that he tunes it to a
standard tuning for a 7-string guitar, and since he never uses the high E string,
he chose to take that same tuning with the heavy B string -which is the
7th string- and convert that onto a 6-string, subtracting the high E string
that he never uses. After that, he down-tunes every string half a step, so
it's A#, D#, G#, C#, F#, A#. I personally prefer the 7-string guitar concept,
and he could have used dropped-db (C#) tuning in this song but he probably goes
baritone (like Staind) and use very thick strings, most likely 7-string type
strings or bass/baritone type, with a low B instead of down-tuning an E string.
In this case, Brad himself told us the tuning and could it be anymore correct
than coming from Big Bad Brad himself?
But, if I were you, and do NOT have the thick strings, then I wouldn't play it
with this tuning, it would just sound like crap with regular strings, I've tried
it. And, I dont have a 7-string or the right strings so I had to tab it myself
with my small amount of knowledge of scales and notes etc.... and god damn it
was frustrating so bear with me if I messed up a bit. I recommend just play it
in the C# tuning that I placed at the bottom. But if you're a guitar nerd and
wanna play it exactly like LP, here it is.
On with the tab...

Most of you know that the main tune by Mr Hahn in this song was in fact
Chester playing a "folk-ish" chord progression on his acoustic guitar,
and then Mike and Joe reversed it so the sound fades in. This made a
sweeping sound which they liked, then they tweaked it a little, and
chopped it up so that they could replace the notes in the original order.
Heres a tab of the original chord progression that Chester wrote:
