This is the bit Ollie stole from the pixies song River Euphrates on the album Surfer Rosa. This is also when I took over on guitar in the Village that night (Oh the memories!!!). Not exactly sure what goes on with respect to the guitar here. I’ll just show you what I play. (Initially on one string the when the band comes in (I’m not sure if it’s an octave below or a harmony) on two strings like this:
e-----------------------------------------------
b-----------------------------------------------
g-8-9-8-9-8-9-8-9-8-9-8-9-8-9-8-9-8-9-8-9-9-9-9-

Chorus 3:
Same as chorus’ one and two BUT crucially the second guitar comes in again an plays this little ascending riff while guitar one plays the A major chord it… ah screw it I’ll put guitar one on top and guitar two on the bottom. If you can’t understand what I mean… you’re a knob jockey!

End just before you would normally strike the E major chord as Ollie screams “OONNNNNNNNNN”
I can’t explain it any easier than that.
